  • It’s v1 from a relatively new company, trying something unprecedented. I’m not surprised it has some major flaws. The first Gen framework 13 did as well.

I own a Gen2 and a Gen3 framework 13 and they are both phenomenal. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a slim laptop, that wasn’t overly concerned about cost.

I’m sure the Gen3 FW16s will be great as well, but it’s going to be a bit before I would recommend them to anyone.

What I think would be great for framework to do next is to design a purpose built eGPU for the framework 13. I would really enjoy something that would turn the FW13 into a decent gaming PC, while still retaining the portability for travel.

  • Too bad you weren’t on the jury, because you could have been educated on the situation and have a valid opinion on the subject.

Or you could actually look up real information and find out what exactly McDonald’s was being punished for, and how they exacerbated the situation over and over.

Safety standards are not created with the expectation that everyone else acts perfectly safely, safety standards are designed that people can have accidents and not be maimed due to cost cutting from a giant, multinational corporation. McDonald’s deserves that judgement, the media demonized the victim, and you are perpetuating that myth.

  • An electric motor is SIGNIFICANTLY more simple to produce than an entire internal combustion engine. There are far fewer moving parts on an electric car than a gasoline one.

The battery is a significant cost, but not all cars need to have 300 miles of range. It is also possible that once the market is saturated (i.e. - several decades), that recycled battery packs will be cheaper to produce than batteries built from raw materials.

The major reason why electric cars are so expensive right now is because there are far fewer of them, and the ones that are being made have a target market of an upper-middle class household. They’re luxury/status symbols as much as anything else. Secondarily, there isn’t a large used electric car market yet.

There is a large potential for cost reductions. Assuming technology continues to improve, electric cars will drop below the price of gas and diesel for everyday driving. Internal combustion engines will most likely be reduced to specialty vehicles.

  • If you want to look at investments, DO NOT buy individual stock. DO NOT short stocks. These are gambles that people play, where you try to guesstimate what the general market thinks about future prospects of a company. Many stocks that over-perform, do not do so because the company is doing well, they over-perform because a large percentage of investors think it might do well in the near future.

Step 1 is just building a stable budget for your household. Pay off debts, earn more than you spend, build an emergency fund. Many companies have savings accounts that you can safely put money into that you can pull out at a moments notice without taking a loss because of a dip in the economy. There’s no reason to look at anything else if you have large amounts of student loans, credit card debt, or car payments you’re working off.

Step 2 is decide what you want to save for - retirement, a home, etc.

Step 3 is start investing towards that goal. Use investment portfolios that match what your Step 2 goal is.

Step 4 - What country are you from? Because the following advice is for Americans:

If you want to actually earn money, you do it slow and steady. Invest in whole market funds, like VTSAX or similar. They are called “whole market index funds” where you invest a small amount of money into an index fund and it grows along with the entire market. You would put money into a 401k, IRA, or other tax advantaged account, and put that money into a whole market index fund.

IF you have thousands of dollars that you are willing to just throw away and it doesn’t matter to you, THEN you can start buying stocks like Reddit, TSLA, or whatever. But that money shouldn’t be considered an investment.
