You can have links open in NewPipe by setting it in Android’s settings:

Settings -> Apps -> All apps -> NewPipe -> Open by default

And then set things up in there

As mastodon.social is based in Germany, they will know about GDPR and have to follow it to the letter.

Sports is definitely hard to have take off in these sorts of spaces, since sports are generally talked about much more amongst regular/casual users, than the more tech-savvy crowd who are willing to try these things out.

It’s the same on the biggest ActivityPub platform (Mastodon) - the really popular regular subjects such as sports and cars just don’t have a presence there.

I have no idea why they decided on this system - there’s definitely some improvements such as decoupling username and display name, and making the username case insensitive, but unique usernames and prestigious usernames is just such an awful system.

So many things had solved this issue as far back as the early 2000s, but seems everyone is insistent on using it.

I couldn’t get a decent username on Discord either, so I just claimed a game name as a meme (pso2ngs) until I can think of something I’d actually want.
