As someone who did swap theor steam deck’s M.2, I really wish it were a 2280 instead since those drives can hold much more. The largest 2230 I could find was only 2 TB.

Would you like an eli5 for some stuff you’ll see in the linux community/forums/etc?
I’d personally be happy to give you a quick rundown of some stuff.
Really? I swore I’ve been told that the regular mint uses snaps since ubuntu loves them. I haven’t used mint since snaps were a thing eitherway.
I’m also going to recommend Linux Mint, its a really friendly beginner distro. I’ll presonally recommend you do Linux Mint Debian instead of normal linux mint since regular linux mint is Ubuntu based and really loves snaps.
The default user env is cinnimon which is going to look a lot like Windows 10 making the transition easier. If you want to install steam its literally a command line away from installing and then its ready to go. That and Steam personally pushing for Linux as a viable gaming platform there are a lot more games now that work out of the box now on steam.
enjoying personal freedom : not subject to the control or domination of another
Merriam webster dictionary definition 2D.
That is a definition people use when discussing libre software. The software is under YOUR control. If adobe says “fuck you, you don’t get the brush tool anymore” thats it for the brush tool. If gimp gets rid of a feature in the main branch, you can say “no fuck you I like this tool” and can just keep the code base that included it still.
Also you have a rather perscriptive understanding of language, which just simply isn’t how language works. Languages evolve over time. Open up a dictionary and see how many definitions are listed as antiquated. Those are definitions that aren’t used anymore as they fell out of favor.
Now get off your high horse about how words aren’t the same as they used to be or how words are frozen to definitions.
Yo, same. The mitten makes it easy.
Not necessarily, my job used to have a flip phone that the sales team would use for after work calls, and it ran android.
I always hate seeing that, then i remember i’ve used both football feilds and time to drive somewhere as units of distance. So yeah, we will use anything
Seriously, I don’t understand tgat person’s point. Before elon the check ment “yes this really is Billy West, voice actor for a lot of things”. It wasn’t a hard concept.
Yeah good plan, I’ll drive or take a plane across the ocean for my next vacation. Not every trip can be taken by land and many that can are extremely long and or slow.
Okay, heres the thing. You’re stuck in a giant tube in the sky for hours. I get people will be bored from lack of anything to do. Hell this post isn’t even about that. Its about how we keep clinging to old standards that made sense at the time that are honestly just kinda dumb now.
Frequently repos say “git clone [repo url]” which i think is enough for most people to copy and paste. I’m a programmer and usually I just click things in my IDE to do git work for me so I’ll agree its not an easy thing to use.
Step 1) Download the LLM with git
Well, fuck we should have known that this requires a masters in computering. Dude these comands are easy, literally copy and paste. The instructions are literally handholding you to run it and thats still to complicated. Also who makes furry porn with a Large Language Model?
Yeah so, we have a way of making chat bots that have safe gaurds to not sell overly discounted tickets or whatever. Its the normal dumb chatbots we’ve used for years. They aren’t smart, they can’t tell you a story, they can’t pull random law out of their ass. No its the ones with a handful of canned responses with a handful of questions it can answer because that’s all it’s programmed to do. Using an LLM for this is not only overkill but fucking stupid. LLM’s are only able to say what they think is the next thing in a conversation. If you ask it for a discount it’ll probably say “sure here’s 15% off” then not actually apply it.
Yeah, its not like we could store that energy in say a battery and then use it another time when demand is higher for actually useful things instead of jerking off techbros/cryptobros.
Dude. It’s 2.3% of a massive industrialized nation where most citizens have access to some luxury goods. A nation with nearly 350 million people being the 3rd most populous country.
It does NOT fucking matter if it’s “”“”““waste””“”“” energy. And no, we don’t fucking make that arguement about things like ac because you know why? Someone is getting comfort out of it instead of burning seals to make a line go up.
I was just listening to the episode of “cool people who did cool stuff” where Margret mentioned that “this is not a pipe” picture.
Though i think the samsungs ex’s arguement is a bit more nihilistic
In the first episode the discription said it was an adaptation of this rolling stone article in case you weren’t aware.
My first like real programming job, in 2019, version control was “download the project from the share drive, update the code, then add your new code back to the share with todays date in the folder name”.
Everyone, except 1 dude liked SVN or mercurial, wanted the boss to just get us on git. It became the general standard for a reason. None of us liked the version control system we had, but HDD space was cheap so the boss wasn’t that concerned.
