Ya, just an infrastructure where their ads have to go into blocks within the video (inserted wherever but tagged as such)

Generally an Unpopular opinion, but I think this should include creator ads (or at least an option per creator to support them by turning on their own ads).
Defaulted to off , I don’t want to watch a random videos AG1 ad. That said there are a couple creators I watch I would be willing to enable theirs strictly to support them.
Because if I’m paying for ad removal it should be complete ad removal.
Its crazy how much further ahead Europe is in Privacy Protection.
All these companies need to be held responsible for what they do with our data, and what it costs them when they lose control of it. Either figure out how to safe guard it or suffer painful consequences. Or perhaps only store what’s necessary for us to interact.
For now at least, I block as much telemetry at the network level (DNS level) using pihole.
Annoys my wife and kid at times. I try to explain why and what it means but convenience is king unfortunately.
I believe the biggest thing that will hurt MS is moving to subscription. The vast majority of users aren’t gonna wanna have a forever fee when they buy a laptop/PC
Ya, a PR nightmare for the next 15 minutes until the next unbelievable thing comes along and the ADD nature of people forgets windows is watching everything they do.
And as long as people keep subscribing to them, they’ll March right along collecting that sweet money.
I just ‘deactivate’ people that share news on facebook. I use FB to give my family (who don’t live near me) and friends a small slice of what’s going on in my world. I don’t post daily/weekly but I only post stuff I create. I also use it for groups/market place since most forums went to FB groups.
I expect the same from my connections, and unfollow anyone that just forwards things (news, memes, other posts). This little bit of management has made my FB feed ‘ok’
Did it this last cycle. Didn’t renew, don’t miss it. In fact the announcement of adding more ads into the video service I didn’t want, but had to pay for to get prime lead to me just leaving.
Disabling autocorrect showcased how bad I am at phone typing. But I have to be very mindful of what is actually corrected and corrected to. Especially in sms where there’s no easy edit
It was totally to give you content to share today on Lemmy /s
I have wondered for a while if both the predictive and spelling ‘help’ these keyboard provide are getting broken because they’re integrating “what most people do” to your phone.
autocorrect is like downright scary now. you have to double, triple check what you typed is what WAS typed.
Well humans are making them. Vine and other early adopter places (Lemmy) are nice until the “masses” find it.
It’s awful, but people eat it up. Add in profit margins and companies jump on smelling that sweet sweet profit.
Tik Tok is blocked in my house but unfortunately reels/yt shorts have no easy way to block without affecting the rest of the service.
This is great news and just absolutely amazing what NASA has achieved here. Keep going Voyager(s)!!!
I’m just using the default storage, and have a Nextcloud instance for any files I need to access.
I do use Google photos, but I skirt there uploads using my old pixel 1 to upload my pixel 8pro photos :) so my storage is mostly static with Google
I pay for yt premium family ($23/mo) now. Was also a yt red subscriber.
Or GrayJay for Android
Was Google one (including yt premium) a limited time deal? I don’t see them connected right now.
Ok, ya I’ve seen those… I love the idea and am excited to see them become mature.
I am, unfortunately tied to Google right now with our “whole house audio”. Using old Chromecast audios. When those are EOL it is going to create a real headache here.
We use minis to initiate the CCAs by making their (minis) default speaker the CCA running through a centralized amp for that room (to ceiling speakers)
It works quite well
I was more aminable when I was paying $14.99 for YT Red Family plan. At $23/mo it’s pretty expensive and I want new features/controls for that money
