Boats, planes, drones, phones, bikes… Anywhere that you can maximize storage cell capacity in odd shaped volumes and spaces/designs. It’s great.
Along the same line of pain management did you know that pretty much all the poppy seed (for ornamental flowers) you can buy at any garden store are opium poppies? You can grow them easily, then macerate the whole plant and extract in off the shelf alcohol and strain it for essentially laudanum which is great for a sleep aide or pain in low to moderate doses. Quite safe as well, obviously if you don’t abuse it.
It’s probably some type of cypher. Which will take people exactly one (1) afternoon to crack.
If you use a DNS solutions you can block all the telemetry shit. Frankly FF has been phoning home in a lot of undesirable ways for many years even before this, like most browsers.
Between this community and the actual Onion I get pretty much the gist of current events, yeah. If some topic or other piques my interest from here, I’ll chase it down. The Onion and its opposite tend to give me enough of the context I need to figure out what’s important enough to pursue vs the vast majority of quasi-satire hitting “normal” news cycles over a given week.
It’s like a hyper-curated way to get my news, as if handpicked for me by a space clown. And I like it that way.
Who’s even still on Twitter at this point besides racists and transphobes and companies who have no tech department to help them divest to a better platform?
Shopify laid off a couple thousand people, then “chaos monkey’d” the entire company just over a year ago, and forced everyone to open an FB Workplace acct as though it was going to boost productivity somehow having us split our comms between slack (which already sucks) that we’ve been using for years and some half assed afterthought Zuck’s team came up with (at least the public facing piece) leading into their own layoff waves.
I left Shopify happily and voluntarily and I’m not gonna pour one out for FB Workplace, at all. Good riddance to bad garbage.
He has a podcast too called Better Offline. Just started it up a few months ago.
Windscribe is based out of Toronto.
Fuckin Boeing at it again.
For anyone on this thread who doesn’t know who Ken Klip is, please check out his free Substack (and subscribe if you can). I wasn’t on Twitter very long (maybe 1.5 years before Elmong took over) but one of the people I value that I ran into on that platform is Ken Klippenstein and I’ve been following him since. He’s amazing at filing thousands of FOIA requests and doing the digging into them that no mainstream journalist does anymore. He also recently quit The Intercept because they were enshittifying far more than he was comfortable with, which for a writer is a huge thing to leave the umbrella of a company like that and a paycheck behind. Writers going out on their own in this climate is the only way we’ll stay even remotely unfucked in the post-information (or misinformation) age.
Klip fuckin rules. Please give him some due.
