I think you wrote it back ways: transitioned from docker to podman?
Yeah podman should use quadlets, not compose, but still works just fine with docker compose and the podman socket!

Podman guys… Podman All the way…
There is no “write and forget” solution. There never has been.
Do you think we have ORIGINALS or Greek or roman written texts? No, we have only those that have been copied over and over in the course of the centuries. Historians knows too well. And 90% of anything ever written by humans in all history has been lost, all that was written on more durable media than ours.
The future will hold only those memories of us that our descendants will take the time to copy over and over. Nothing that we will do today to preserve our media will last 1000 years in any case.
(Will we as a specie survive 1000 more years?)
Still, it our duty to preserve for the future as much as we can. If today’s historians are any guide, the most important bits will be those less valuable today: the ones nobody will care to actually preserve.
Citing Alessandro Barbero, a top notch Italian current historian, he would kill no know what a common passant had for breakfast in the tenth century. We know nothing about that, while we know a tiny little more about kings.
Mmmm no? Seems it works
No, because i did it over long time since I encoded only during the day hours and a few episodes at a time.
I can say that I fit a good 30% more episodes in the same space, but at the same time I also have added movies and reduces sizes too, so hard to tell reasonably.
I can say that all my collection was mostly h264 before.
Maybe I have a different point of view here, but I have actively converted all my TV series to AV1 and will probably to the same to most of my movies.
The space saving is huge, and the quality is identical to my eyes and hardware. True that storage is cheaper than ever, but this is not a reason valid to waste it anyway.
I have only 6TB of storage for my media and the power needed to run additional disks would only be waste on the long run, and so buying new bogger disks would be a waste for stuff I don’t wantch often (more like hoarding than…).
So AV1 is the way. Software encoding is the best quality, I have heard, rather than hardware encoding. As for playback, I have a fire stick with AV1 support that works flawlessly, so.
Edit: I have FV at home, so converting to AV1 during daylight is actually free for me.
Italian content? Some, but not much. Way less that torrents.
I speak from experience.
For anybody waiting for invites: i have up and just waited until Black Friday deals and openings: you need to head to “the other site” and watch the deals and opening times and you can get anything you want.
Also, invites are not free: you still need to pay the subscription!
They get DMCA’d regularly and content get removed on Usenet as well. But the fact that they have to report literally thousands of individual files every time make it slow and inefficient. People will just reload the same item many times and it’s always there.
Each copy, each single file in which the copy is split needs to be identified and asked for removal. Compared to torrents, it’s a long and complex task.
I vote for public votes. Your comments, history and activity is already public, what can you gain from “hidden” votes as much as privacy?
As codecs go, I love AV1. More and more hardware support everywhere, it seems more future proof than h265 even at this point.
Rip at native DVD resolution and don’t forget ALL the audio tracks, as many English users always forget about the rest of the world.
It’s dead to me too then. Useless crap. Maybe the best hardware and software, but still closed crap.
Can you unlock them easily and still have valid warranty as well? That would be a great point
Yes, I am a maintainer for a 4 years old device, and I would love to be able to buy it new today! New battery and all.
Xiaomi. Or poco, redmi… Same stuff. For 200 bucks you get awesome phones and you can usually always remove stock and install LineageOS. They are all freely uockable and still under warranty after that.
Get a model near its end of market life, buy new the oldest you can find… Unlock, install LineageOS, enjoy.
I bought my Poco X3 NFC for 160€ 4 years ago and still rocks today with LineageOS 21 (Android 14).
(It usually take 6 months to 1 year for each new model to get LineageOS support, so don’t buy the latest model Also worth looking if there is official support on LineageOS before buy, or at least some unofficial ports).
I already have my arrs, but often I find difficult to locate it in my native language, while Amazon Prime has them all, in my native language.
Another way would be to find the Italian audio track and put it on an english movie…
(I also have Usenet, but Italian content there is even worse than torrents)
Man, at 55 I will be still running ironman’s… Hopefully. And trails. Let’s keep arthritis for the 70’s, shall we?
Usenet is fast and very convenient, but very little content in my language, so… Not sure will renew subscriptions when they expire.
Check this wiki, specially the torrebt and Usenet pages… Then you can wither follow the practical installation pages or ignore and find some docker only guides.
That’s not the point. Maybe you can, but for how long? you will never stop asking the question with docker…
