Now imagine that 100 oil employees make good looking ai art to show mother nature either sharing the oil with someone to help them in some way, or even make it look like oil is helping remove a cancer or something from herself. 100 different variations of this. How impactful is your message compared to theirs? Will people even see yours?
I think foveated rendering also helps with immersion. Being able to blur things you are not specifically looking at and are farther away is a closer match to reality.
For people worried about finding the “good areas”, it’s not that tough. We stayed at a Hilton and it was super affordable to use their concierge service to get us a safe driver. He was personable and took us where we needed to go, and explained the safe and unsafe neighborhoods… Though we weren’t planning on doing any walking around randomly or anything. By affordable I mean they only charged like $50 for this guy to drive us for a few hours and wait in the car while we did our sightseeing. We gave a good tip at the end and he was very happy.
South Africa is beautiful and if you can afford to get there, you can probably afford to use this kind of service to be there safely.
I really like Garmin for this. Lots of models to choose from to find your niche (eg, they have running focused, scuba diving focused, or just looks like a regular watch with no gps). What’s cool is their ecosystem is NOT to do much smartwatch stuff. It’s all about health focus. Or maybe fitness focus I guess.
Edit: oh I reread and saw you want blood pressure. They don’t do this that I know of.
If we need signs saying student driver, the driver is not ready
This isn’t really a great argument. Subsidies are there to promote the things we want to come to fruition. Want your people to have solar? Subsidies for putting one on your roof. You want more electric cars on the road even though more expensive? Subsidies.
You want a billionaire to help a new technology reach people he wouldn’t bother with? Subsidies.
Eh, it was predicted we would die because the population growth was exceeding our ability to farm food, but then out of necessity the industrial revolution happened.
I think we are predicting we will die but out of necessity we will make the necessary changes to save ourselves just in time. Not just stopping emissions (this will only help slow the worsening, since we might be past the point of no return by the time we do this), but also carbon capture to remove the CO2, while simultaneously seeding extra clouds with something like the salt water canons running on cargo ships, and other such tech to reflect the sun while we get to work on CO2 capture.
The CO2 will have to be sequestered back in the ground, so a method will have to be made to liquify and pump it back in, but it’s theoretically possible.
I think the main market was supposed to be like a utility vehicle. It’s got some nice specs for actual work purposes for an electric vehicle, while saving money by not making a pretty body.
I don’t know why some people like the look and want it for recreational use.
Lemmy as a whole appears to irrationally hate Tesla because of their stupid CEO. I think his penchant for calling what is essentially “advanced autopilot” FULL SELF DRIVING should be illegal. But he’s a car salesman and for some reason the government is letting him call it that. Be mad at our lawmakers for that. He’s just a sheister and our lawmakers suck at reining him in. Tesla cars themselves are actually really good. Very safe cars that don’t roll over because of the heavy battery located so low, very responsive acceleration, and some nice quality of life low hanging fruit in the technology department, like my phone being a key. I was told by my Tesla rep when I bought the car to not buy FSD. It’s experimental and will not ever probably be driving you to your destination safely. The fact that they sell it with a name that implies it will is the problem. And people believe it. That’s incredibly dangerous.
Woah that sounds really great actually, considering Tesla probably has 10x the autopilot miles driven compared to other manufacturers.
The mRNA shots are very sensitive. I’m not allowed to shake them prior to administration, only swirl gently. I feel like this tech will damage them no?
As someone buying a color screen boox soon, I think it’s worth a mention that the battery is MUCH worse on boox because it has to run android. Like, the boox may last a day or two vs the Kindle Paperwhite lasting a couple weeks.
It’s not a huge issue if you are home a lot and can charge, but I love the Paperwhite because it feels like it ALWAYS is charged. It just doesn’t have the color screen so I guess I will have both now, one for comics and one for books.
I think a lot goes into gasoline. Like a large percentage of our corn crops
I think the idea is, most people could build a doghouse with no training, but you need planning and education to plan/build a skyscraper. If you want to write your own app at home, maybe no software planning is really required. Keep nailing in workarounds. But if you want to build a huge system, you need to do a bit more than workarounds. You need a good plan from the start to make it all efficient and in a manner others can contribute to the code base.
That said, I feel like just having workarounds is really common even in large industry settings. Maybe I’m wrong though. I’m more of a home doghouse builder type myself.
