Oh no, I just looked it up and learned that I get my multi-thousand dollar per month medication for free thanks to a program sponsored by Nestle. I feel dirty. But I also need my medication.

Not until he’s gotten through all of the peasants who live in the countryside.
I think I tasted a bit of bile in the back of my throat when I read your comment.
Well, it’s only a very, very recent problem in Japan. They had stagnation for decades. Little to no change in wages, little to no change in prices. In 2011, I was making something like 33,000 USD per year there and living very comfortably with ample savings and what the Japanese considered to be a large apartment. It’s a pretty affordable country, aside from travel. Or if you want to live in a fancy place in a desirable big city neighborhood.
(And yes, I have been to Japan since then and know that things have changed somewhat. It’s still cheap compared to the US. Food is so cheap, it’s amazing what you can get.)
I wonder if they even have what we think of as HR in Russia.
Shortly after I returned to the States from Fukushima (a little bit after the disaster), I was taking an emergency response course on radioactivity. Everybody there got to use a Geiger counter on themselves and their belongings and various things in the room. The only thing that set it off was the purse I had brought back with me.
Anecdotal, obviously, and it wasn’t highly radioactive, but I did get rid of the purse.
So… She’s trying to make things worse for her daughter.
I taught a bunch of Gen Zers back when they were in high school. None of them knew how to type well, and it was a rarity that any of them knew how to type at all. I was supposed to teach them things like Microsoft Office, but we had to start with typing and basic PC usage before we could move on to something as complicated as MS Word.
This is what happens when people don’t use computers and instead just use cell phones.
I still see all their comments.
Very few Americans don’t have access to inexpensive (relative to processed garbage) high quality food.
This is patently false. I would really recommend you read up on food deserts (or watch a video about them). These are very common, especially in poorer areas.
Can someone explain like I’m five how Waymo has robitaxis without drivers behind the wheel and automated driving such as that offered by Tesla is not yet able to do the same?
Is it just that Waymo has mapped a small area really, really well? What’s the difference? Why is Tesla so bad at it but Waymo is able to do it?
You said you’re “not about to click on it”, which is implying that you think it is not a good news source.
Asahi is perfectly legitimate and one of Japan’s largest news organizations.
Just because you haven’t heard of something doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with it.
Uttar Pradesh? That place which is known especially for horrific crimes against women? Maybe the police could be doing something better with their time.
And little girls.
And some kids were killed at a Taylor Swift themed dance class in the UK very recently. I’m not a fan of her myself, but I can really sympathize with how gut-wrenching that must be.
As an American citizen who survived a major disaster abroad, you might be surprised how very little the US cares about its citizens.
Or, if you read the article, you would know that it’s more about the threat of terrorism, which recently led her to cancel some concerts.
TIL Microsoft has a handheld gaming platform.
You know, your comment was very helpful.
I know that all of these megacorps sponsor all sorts of philanthropic causes for PR and tax purposes. But I also know how evil Nestle is and I don’t find it difficult to not buy their products. …until I just looked up who’s paying for my meds.
But thank you, you are right. I’m using up their money and giving them nothing back.
