I’ve noticed usually in the middle of the afternoon, before 4. Otherwise you’ll get the people who left early to go to Costco.
Weekends near the end of the day, oddly enough, usually are quiet as well.

I think Google does this with your phone. I can see how busy various places are by looking them up on Google maps. Really useful for my local Costco.
There was a subreddit where you could find links to full movies on Pornhub. They had delightfully cheeky names.
I get what you’re saying but that still gives them unsolicited permission to post ads in the first place.
I want an operating system, not an ad system that also happens to be an operating system
The problem is that Time and every other news outlet think they are the cats pajamas and deserve your subscription. They suffer a similar problem to streaming platforms except news is not exclusive.
If these companies could organize and build a “pay once, get access to everything everywhere” model, they would see subscriptions go through the roof and get more money. But since the owners of these news outlets want only their own subscribers to go up, it’s never going to happen.
I’m not going to pay for 5-10 news subscriptions no matter how great the reporting is.
But I’d be willing to pay $20 or so a month if that meant I can access any article on any news website.
Never profits. Must be revenue.
Companies have ways of looking like they don’t make a profit, especially when it comes to filing taxes.
“Oh, we created a subsidiary in Ireland and, gosh darn, they charged us a gagillion dollars for this pen. We actually have a loss this year.”
Beat
“Stimulus please!”
I’ve actually heard it the other way: if your employer knows you have cancer or other disability, they have to try even harder to fire you to ensure that they could survive a lawsuit.
As if they would ask permission.
We’ll be fucking your wife now while we install features on your computer that you didn’t ask for. If you’d like to be notified when we’re done, please go fuck yourself.
Is that…Suits?!
His wife forced him to install security cameras in every room of his apartment and banned him from going anywhere after work. She knew his schedule and expected him home immediately after work ended.
This is so toxic. Not saying cheaters get what they deserve but if you can’t trust your husband, I think you have bigger problems than infidelity.
Imo, there are too many good artists and not enough of a market.
The problem with the market is that they don’t want to pay what artists want. For every one person who wants a bespoke painting is about 30 people who are okay with mediocre and probably couldn’t tell the difference between someone who spent weeks versus a few hours on a painting.
I’m not saying artists don’t deserve to get paid. There are just not enough people willing to pay what they want. Is AI stealing their jobs? Probably. But they weren’t getting those jobs in the first place.
A few years ago, I was looking for an art student who would be willing to paint a very simple beach painting for me. Nothing fancy and really I probably could have done it on my own. There was an art school nearby and I went to a showcase and asked around. For an 8x10 canvas, it was going to be $1k minimum.
That’s insane. I wasn’t asking for detail. Just something with a sky, ocean, and sand. I found something similar to what I was looking for at a yard sale for $5.
I was willing to pay up to $300 with the possibility of doing more commissions down the road.
During the pandemic, I ended up taking some painting classes and learned to do the simple painting on my own for the price of a good bottle of wine.
Just because you are private, doesn’t mean that you answer only to yourself. It depends on how the company is structured and what shares (if any) the leadership holds. In some cases it can be worse because the person who has the shares to force you to do what they want will be able to keep their position without any oversight. Boards in public trades companies are at least public.
Discord is a great example of this. They are privately held and their quality is starting to go down.
Honestly, it’d be a good retort from Apple if they ran a commercial that said, “We’ll support RCS once all your products do” and then show a screenshot of Google Voice.
I predict in a few months, they will put their API behind a paid tier.
On the surface of only the quote. I agree.
If a felon was in the White House, I think we’d finally see some genuine prison reform, and if we’re lucky, for profit prisons being outlawed.
Can you imagine a Danny Trejo type in the White House? Someone who deeply cares that prison is reformative and not punishment?
But not Donny Felon. He’s just going to commit more crimes.
Same here. There has to be no network whatsoever. No wifi, no wired connection.
You can completely cut out any internet access to the device (via the router), and it will still cry like baby and say that you need to use a Microsoft account.
There is absolutely no reason why disabling this needs to require a special keystroke let alone command.
If it’s anything like the “sign into your Microsoft account to continue” bullshit, there will be no cancel button. You’ll need to cast an archaic spell where you summon a spirit from the Netherworld, who then just gives you a 60 minute lecture on enshitification and why you should install Arch.
Sounds like the way around this is to make swap space take up the drive up to 24 GB. Then trim the swap space as you need it.
I know it says “to enable” but let’s be real here. It’s going to be a placebo switch.
The problem isn’t necessarily whether it will work on not. I’m fairly certain it will work 90-95% of the time. And that might be enough. But it’s that last 10% where I might need to do something right now and it will only work in Windows and will only work on bare metal.
I hit that use case maybe once a year. Last year I was helping someone read an old thumb drive they had with some important pictures on it. It was formatted with some old version of NTFS and wouldn’t mount on my linux desktop. It opened completely fine in Windows…which also gave me a virus.
Thanks a lot Kevin.
It was not rumor.
They retired them in 2019.
