Very neat. I haven’t used Reddit in a year, but I wanted to check out your app out of curiosity. I think I feel much healthier without it being a regular part of my life, but this is an interesting window I could glance through from time to time.
The comment collapse feature seems to work very inconsistently. Where should you be tapping or how in order to collapse a comment thread?

Yes and no? My team is scattered around the US, so if my east coasters hit a snag early, I genuinely don’t want them in a holding pattern until I get around to it. Same for my coworkers on the west coast.
Some of the intensity of it has been that I assumed control of a team that was already severely mismanaged and had missed it’s initial deadlines by a month.
Of course that manager got promoted to an area that better suited his skills and I was asked to step in and try to right the ship. Our final deadline is today and we only have minor and cosmetic bugs left (that we know of).
We have plenty of new features to add moving forward, but with the project back on track and the foundation established, I’ll be able to set better deadlines for everyone’s work life balance.
I will probably always have some temptation to pull long hours for my team scattered around the country, but it becomes much less urgent now that we’re past our insane crunch.
Maybe it’s hopelessly naive of me and the next deadline will also become a crunch, but I have some control over those future dates, so I hope it will be less of an issue.
While it can’t “know” its own confidence level, it can distinguish between general knowledge (12” in 1’) and specialized knowledge that requires supporting sources.
At one point, I had a chatGPT memory designed for it to automatically provide sources for specialized knowledge and it did a pretty good job.

Really helpful. Yeah, it’s already invaded my vacations and time off, but I’m working to create better boundaries moving forward. The problem is that there’s literally no one else who can answer certain questions or resolve certain problems and everything will grind to a halt if I don’t deal with it in a timely manner.
I know this is just a joke, but I’ve recently become a project manager for the first time. I’m open to tips and suggestions.
I’ve really enjoyed it and have worked hard to give my developers everything they need as soon as possible. Otherwise I try to stay out of the way and do my best to shield them from the pressure that’s being applied on me to achieve deadlines.
I’d agree that anyone can ask for project updates, but I really do work hard to balance client demands with c-suite expectations and the realistic outcomes described by my developers.
They almost certainly will. That blue is a prestige feature for a lot of people.

Google has obviously been crap for a long time, but that was just a dumb motto to begin with. It’s not aspirational, it’s not useful for anything and it barely requires anything of anyone.
They changed it to: Do the right thing.
It’s not much better, they’re still an awful company, as most companies are, but this is just the worst reason to rag on them.
These people are starting to make my heart ache a little. They seem so desperate and undereducated. Life must feel very frightening for them.
Because we should at least be consistent in our arguments even if they’re not. That’s why I’m saying anything at all.
I don’t disagree with the sentiment, though the historical context makes the statement very different. The point wasn’t that you can only pray in private. The point was you can’t use apparent piety to increase your social collateral.
Doubtless, some of these people are only out there for exactly that reason. Others because they genuinely care and are deeply misguided in how best to demonstrate that concern.
Completely agree. I genuinely believe everyone should be allowed to believe and behave how they want, free from coercion, so long as they aren’t inhibiting anyone else’s ability to believe or behave as they please.
I think there’s plenty to criticize here without resorting to the same outlandish polemics they employ.
Okay, so this app is super messed up, but this take on prayerwalking is the equivalent to satanic panic for D&D.
Prayerwalking is just what the portmanteau describes. Sometimes it contains an evangelistic bent of looking for specific people to pray with or whatever, but mostly it’s just people out praying for people and places.
If Amazon is sinking money into it, someone somewhere sees a path to profitability. I can’t imagine why they’d invest all that money only to shut down one of the internet’s largest brands.
So the IP68 ratings are on a scale of 1-9 for dust and water respectively.
So the 6 is for dust and particulates and the 8 is for water.
With a rating of IP68, which is an industry standard, it is actually better at keeping out water then dust and particulates. I have no idea what the deal is with rice particulate, but it’s obviously not great to get into charging ports and the like.
It’s worth noting that Samsung shares the exact same rating and would also struggle with a bowl of rice.
There’s so many reasons to hate on Apple and iPhones, but build quality simply isn’t one of them.
iPhones are IP68, which means they can be immersed in serveral meters of water for up to 30 minutes.
I wasn’t double tapping intentionally! That’s the ticket. I was tapping around looking for a collapse trigger and must have occasionally tapped quickly enough to earn a double tap.
